U.S. government renews prohibition of Sun Dance among Plains Indians

The prohibition of Sun Dance ceremonies is renewed by the U.S. government in 1904 and is not reversed until 1934. During the period of prohibition, Plains tribes “attenuated forms of the ritual … usually as part of public Fourth of July celebrations.” (https://www.britannica.com/topic/Sun-Dance)
